Dr. John Sarmiento was born in Canada and sometimes wonders how he ended up in the Arizona desert. Along the way, he attended Yale University where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychobiology, which is a weird way to refer to Neuroscience. He wanted to be a doctor since he was a kid and originally wanted to be a neurologist but at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine (Bronx, New York) he loved his pediatric rotations the most. So, he took his MD degree to the Children’s Hospital Los Angeles where he completed his pediatric residency.
After finishing his pediatric training in 2005, Dr. Sarmiento came to Arizona and started out as a pediatric hospital doctor in the Phoenix east valley. After several years he moved westward and he has been an office-based pediatrician ever since, joining Great Destinations Pediatrics in the fall of 2016. He eventually realized that what brought him south of the Canadian border was his destiny to meet and marry a local Arizona girl named Teri. She owns a real estate company and a big heart. Together they have two amazing sons. As a family, they love spending time outside doing anything active.
Dr. Sarmiento provides comprehensive care for all your child’s healthcare needs. His passion is to make sure that your children grow up healthy and he wants to let you know that he is always listening.
